of streets, and for length running the entire distance of the
said streets, or parts of streets; in like manner the said Com-
missioners of Cambridge shall assess on the property abutting
on each side of Race street between Muir and Cedar streets
the entire cost of paving a strip on each side of said street six
feet in width and for length running the entire distance of the
street, or part of street, aforesaid; and the said Commissioners
of Cambridge shall, in like manner, assess upon the property
on each side of Race street between Cedar and Washington
streets the entire cost of paving a strip on each side of said
street five feet in width, and for length running the entire dis-
tance of said part of said street; and in like manner the said
Commissioners of Cambridge shall assess upon the property
abutting on each side of Gay street between Poplar and Muse
streets and upon the property upon each side of Muse street,
and upon the property upon each side of Market street be-
tween Muse and the bridge across Cambridge Creek, the entire
cost of paving a strip on each side of said streets, or parts of
streets, six feet in width, and for length running the entire
.distance of the streets or parts of streets aforesaid, and if any
other street, or parts of streets, shall be paved under the pro-
visions of this Act, the said Commissioners of Cambridge shall
assess such part or percentage of the cost of the same upon the
property abutting upon each side of the street so selected for
improvement, as in their judgment shall be fair and equitable,
not to exceed, however, one-fourth of the entire cost upon the
property abutting on each side of the said streets. All of the
aforesaid assessments upon abutting property shall be made
and apportioned upon the respective properties according to
the front-foot rule of apportionment, and when made shall con-
stitute a tax or lien upon such abutting property, with priority
over other liens thereon recorded after the passage of this Act,
and said assessments when made and apportioned as aforesaid
shall be placed in the hands of the Collector of Taxes for the
Town of Cambridge, to be collected by him as other town taxes
are collected; provided that before making such assessment,
whether before or after the completion of the work, the said
Commissioners of Cambridge shall give two weeks' notice to
the owners of the said abutting property by advertising in one
or more newspapers published in said town of their intention
on or after a certain day to be stated in said advertisement, to
make such assessment on said property, and warning all such
owners to appear before them at a time and place to be men-
tioned in said advertisement to show cause, if any they have,
why they or their property should not be assessed as proposed,
and provided, further, that any person interested feeling ag-
grieved by any assessment made by the Commissioners of Cam-
