822 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

crabs with Trot line and net in any of the waters of said Elec-
tion Districts, Nos. 5 or Lakes 6 or Hoopers Island and 10 or
Straits, shall first obtain by application to the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for said County, a separate license for every per-
son to be employed in said business and such license shall have
effect for the year in which it is issued. Providing, that boys
under ten years of age, shall not be required to license.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That each and every license is-
sued in conformity with the provisions of Section 1 of this
Article shall state the name, color and residence of the person
to whom the license is to granted, the number thereof, and
every applicant for such license shall pay to the Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Dorchester County, when such license may
be granted and before the issuing and delivery of the same the
sum of one dollar ($ 1.00) except boys under ten years of age.
the said Clerk to receive twenty-five cents, for each and every
such license as a fee for issuing the same, including administer-
ing the oath when required, the balance seventy-five cents shall
be paid by the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners of
Dorchester County to be applied by them to the improvement
of the Public Roads of Lakes or No. 5, Hoopers Island or No.
6, and Straits or No. 10, election districts of or replenishing
the barren oyster bottoms in said districts in their discretion,
both subject to the orders of the County Commissioners, and
to authorize some suitable person to perform said duties in
said County.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That every applicant for license
as aforesaid shall be required to make oath or affirmation be-
fore the Clerk of the Circuit Court, for Dorchester County, or
some Justice of the Peace, in and for said County, on whose
certificate of the taking of such oath and affirmation the Clerk
shall issue said license, that the facts ste forth therein are
strictly true and that he has been a bona fide resident of Dor
Chester County for twelve months next preceding his applica-
tion for said license.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if any person shall catch
crabs with Trot line and net from any of the waters of election
district Nos. 5 or Lakes, 6 or Hoopers Island and 10 or Straits
of Dorchester County, without first having obtained license as
required by the preceding Section of this Act, that he shall
upon conviction thereof before a Justice of the Peace, of the
aforesaid County, be fined not less than $25.00 nor more than
$100.00, and stand committed to the County Jail until all costs
and fines are paid, one-half of all such fines to go to the in-
former, if other than an officer of the State and one-half to be
paid over to the County Commissioners of Dorchester County,
