726 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 241.

AN ACT to amend Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of the State of Maryland, title "Cecil County" and Article
15 of .said Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Kent County," by adding additional sections thereto, re-
quiring all persons dealing in or otherwise purchasing for
sale, in or out of said counties, or selling live stock, wool and
furs within the limits of either of said counties, to take out
a license before engaging in said business.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That no person shall, after the first day of May, in the
year nineteen hundred and ten, engage in the business of pur-
chasing live stock, wool and furs for sale outside of or within
the limits of either Cecil or Kent counties, or selling live stock,
wool and furs in said counties, without first obtaining a
license in the manner herein prescribed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Clerks of the Circuit
Courts for Cecil and Kent counties, upon application for a li-
cense for any of the purposes mentioned in. the preceding sec-
tion, and upon the payment of the sum of twenty-five dollars
for said license and fifty cents costs, shall issue such license,
and when so issued it shall entitle the holder thereof to en-
gage in the business of buying and selling live stock, wool and
furs in both of said counties, and the Clerk of either of said
courts may issue a license, as aforesaid, which shall entitle the
holder thereof to carry on said business in both of said coun-
ties, and said license shall expire on the first day of May next
after the same is issued; and if granted for a part of the year,
a ratable sum shall be charged therefor.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That said license shall entitle the
holder thereof to engage in said business within the limits of
both of said counties without being required to take out any
other license for that purpose, notwithstanding the provisions
of any Public General Law or Public Local Law of this State
to the contrary thereof.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if any person or persons
shall engage within the limits of either of said counties in car-
rying on the business of dealing in, purchasing or selling any
live stock, wool and furs in violation of the provisions of this
Act, he or they shall, upon arrest and conviction thereof, either
before a Justice of the Peace of either of said counties, or upon
indictment, be subject to a fine of not less than fifty dollars
nor more than one hundred dollars, and all costs of prosecu-
tion.
