10C. That should said Commissioners determine to sell a
part of said almshouse farm, as provided in Section 10B hereof,
the course and manner of their proceedings shall be as follows:
They shall first cause the part of said farm determined to be
sold to be carefully surveyed and plotted, and then give at least
three weeks' public notice of said sale by advertisement in at
least two newspapers printed and published in Caroline County
of the time, place, manner and terms of said sale, which said
terms shall be for cash, or part cash and part credit, in the dis-
cretion of the said Commissioners; but if at said sale a satis-
factory bid is not obtained, in the judgment of the Commis-
sioners, they shall withdraw the said land, and may afterward
sell the same at private sale upon the terms hereinbefore set
forth; provided, however, that the price received at private
sale exceed the price offered at public sale, plus the costs of
the public sale, and when the purchase money shall have been
fully paid, and not before, the said Commissioners shall, by
good and sufficient deed, convey the same to the purchaser or
purchasers thereof.
10D. That, should said land be sold as hereinbefore pro-
vided, the proceeds arising from said sale and notes for the
deferred payments, if any, shall be paid and drawn to the
County Commissioners of Caroline County, the notes to bear
interest from the day of sale and to be secured to the satis-
faction of said Commissioners, and the money thus received,
and as the same is received, shall be by said Commissioners
paid over to the Treasurer of the Trustees of the Poor of Caro--
line County, to be applied by them to the payment of the indebt-
edness due by them, and the remainder shall be applied to the
permanent improvement of the almshouse farm and equipping
the same with the necessary stock and implements for the
proper conduct and management thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 263.
AN ACT requiring Justices of the Peace for Caroline County
to account for and pay over annually, on or before the first
day of June, to the County Commissioners of Caroline
County all sums collected by said Justices of the Peace dur-
ing the preceding twelve months, by way of fines, forfeitures
or penalties, and imposing a punishment by way of fines or
imprisonment for a failure to account for and pay over said
money.
