shall be taken to regulate the pay of any special officer or
station-house keeper now or hereafter to be appointed by the
said County Commissioners of Baltimore County, but their
pay shall be entirely in the discretion of said County Com-
missioners.

SEC. 293. And be it enacted, That the Comity Commissioners
shall levy annually a sufficient sum, not exceeding fifty thou-
sand dollars, upon the taxable property in Baltimore County,
to pay said policemen (including the marshal or officers of any
other designation or rank on said force), and for such other
and proper expenses as in their judgment may be required to
promote the efficiency, discipline and usefulness of such police
force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 357.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
Baltimore County to levy a sum of money to refund to R.
Howard Ring, of said county, certain taxes erroneously paid
by him.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Baltimore County be
and the same are hereby authorized and directed to levy for
the use of R. Howard Ring, of said county, the sum of ninety-
three dollars and sixty-seven cents, the amount of county taxes
paid erroneously by him for the years 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893,
1894, 1895, 1896, 1897, 1898, 1899 and 1900.

And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

Approved April 13, 1910.

CHAPTER 578.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of
Baltimore Cqunty to have the books of their office and the
Treasurer's office audited annually.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Baltimore County
be and they are hereby authorized and directed to have the
books and accounts of their office and the Treasurer's office
