518 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

of 1890, entitled "An Act to Provide for the Purchase or
Construction of Waterworks for the Town- of Frostburg, in
Allegany County, and to Authorize the Mayor and Council-
men of said Town to Issue Bonds to Pay the Cost Thereof,"
and to re-enact the same with amendments, fixing the pen-
alty for any person or persons polluting any stream, spring,
brook, reservoir, watercourse or other sources of water sup-
ply of said town, or for injuring said water supply, water-
works, pipes or mains, or obstructing the passage of water
therein, or for any person not a water-renter meddling with
said waterworks, pipes, hydrants or other parts thereof, or
taking water therefrom.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the charter of the town of Frostburg be and the
same is hereby amended by the repeal of Section 15 of Chapter
130 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1890,
entitled "An Act to provide for the purchase or construction
of waterworks for the town of Frostburg, in Allegany County,
and to authorize the Mayor and Councilmen of said town to
issue bonds to pay the costs thereof," providing penalty for
any person or persons who shall unlawfully pollute any stream,
spring, brook, reservoir, watercourse or other source of water
supply of said town, or for injuring said water supply, water-
works, pipes or mains, or obstructing the passage of water
therein, or for any person not a water renter meddling with
said waterworks, pipes, hydrants or other parts thereof, or
taking water therefrom, and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments so as to read as follows:

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That it shall be unlawful for
any person or persons to unlawfully pollute any stream, spring,
brook, reservoir or watercourse or other source or means of
water supply of said town, by throwing any dead animals or
impure substance into the same, or by swimming, bathing or
washing themselves or by washing clothes or by throwing any
impurities therein, or by committing or maintaining any nui-
sance in or near said water supply as to pollute the same; and
it shall also be unlawful for any person or persons to unlaw-
fully injure said waterworks or any part thereof, or to ob-
struct or interfere with the passage of water therein; and it
shall further be unlawful for any person, not being a water
renter, to meddle with said waterworks, or with the pipes,
hydrants or other parts thereof, or to take and carry away
from said waterworks, or from any pipes, hydrants or other
parts thereof or connected therewith (either with or without
the consent of any water renter), and any person offending
against any of the provisions of this section shall be subject
to a fine or not les than three dollars, nor more than fifty dol-
