ber of each year elect two persons of opposite politics to act
as officers of said registration, who shall sit as officers of reg-
istration at the Council Chamber in said town on two days,
to wit: On the first Monday in December and the second Mon-
day in December in each year, and shall sit not less than nine
hours each day, and ten days' public notice of said sitting be-
fore the first of sittings shall be given by advertisement by
way of handbills posted in not less than ten public places
within the corporate limits of the town of Westernport.
SEC. 253. Be it enacted. That whenever any election pro-
vided by law shall be held within the town limits of Western-
port other than the regular annual elections for town officers,
as hereinbefore provided, and such special election shall be
required to be held before the first regular annual election is
held as aforesaid, then said Mayor and Commissioners shall
proceed to appoint registration officers as aforesaid, who shall
sit for the registration of the voters of the town of Western-
port for not less than two weeks preceding said special election
the particular days for said sittings to be designated by ordi-
nance, unless otherwise provided by law, and shall register the
voters in manner as hereinbefore provided for the regular elec-
tions ; and said special registration shall be necessary to the
qualification of voters at said special election.
SEC. 254. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 666.
AN ACT to authorize the Governor of the State of Maryland
to appoint seven female notaries public in Allegany County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Governor of the State of Maryland be and he
is hereby authorized to appoint for Allegany County seven
female notaries public.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
