504 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Road Directors for Allegany County be and
they are hereby authorized and empowered to build a bridge
over the Potomac river, in conjunction with the public authori-
ties of Hampshire County, West Virginia, at some point which
may be determined upon as most convenient, at or near Old-
town, in Allegany County.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That for the purpose of building
said bridge the said County Commissioners are hereby author-
ized to levy a sum of money upon the assessable property of
said county not exceeding one-half the cost of said bridge, and
said sum so levied shall be entered to the use of the Road Di-
rectors of Allegany County, for the purpose aforesaid, which
Road Directors are hereby empowered to supervise the expedi-
ture of the same and make any agreement essential in carry-
ing out the purpose of this Act, and when said bridge is so
built, the said Road Directors, together with the authorities of
Hampshire County, West Virginia, shall maintain and keep the
same in repair, paying for said maintenance out of the general
road fund for Allegany County.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 83.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 216E
of Article I of the Public Local Laws of the State of Mary-
land, title "Allegany County, " sub-title "Roads, " as said
section was enacted by Chapter 220 of the Acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland of the year 1908.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 216E of Article I of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Allegany County, " sub-title "Roads, " as said
section was enacted by Chapter 220 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of 1908, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-
enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows:

Section 216E. The County Commissioners shall in their an-
nual levy in the year 1910, and annually thereafter, levy upon
the assessable property of Allegany County not less than forty
thousand dollars for the use of the Road Directors of Allegany
County, which shall be collected as other taxes are collected,
and the extent of such levy the County Treasurer of Alle-
gany County shall honor the drafts to be signed by the Chair-
