value thereof, and shall make return thereof to the County
Commissioners; and for the purposes of this section the said
collectors shall be clothed with the power of general assessor,
and shall receive the fees heretofore allowed by law or usage to
collectors of taxes for assessing new property in said county,
and his valuation thereof shall be subject to revision and cor-
rection by said Commissioners; it shall, moreover, be lawful
for the County Commissioners to appoint in each of the elec-
tion districts of said county one of the constables thereof to
act under this section, and to make such return to said com-
missioners in which case each of said constables so appointed
shall be clothed with said power of general assessor, and shall
respectively receive the fees aforesaid on property so returned
by them respectively; provided, however, that in no case shall
said fees be allowed to any other of said officers than the one
first making return as aforesaid, and to each only on such
property as is returned by him.

43F. The provisions of the Code of Public General Laws of
Maryland now in force, or hereafter enacted applicable to col-
lectors of State and county taxes, except where the same are
repealed by or are inconsistent with of this sub-title of this
Article, shall be held to apply to the treasurer of said county,
who as to this power, rights, duties and liabilities, both civil
and criminal, and those of his bond or bondsmen shall be in all
respects on a footing with State and county collectors except
as herein provided. And the present treasurer of Allegany
County shall remain in office until his successor shall have
qualified.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Act of 1902,
Chapter 413, be and the same shall remain in full force and
effect, so far as the same shall apply to and effect the County-
Treasurer of Allegany County, elected at the General Election,
held in said county, in the month of November, 1909.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
upon the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 100.

AN ACT to enable the County Commissioners of Allegany
County to levy money for the purpose of building a bridge
across the Potomac river at or near Oldtown, in conjunction
with the public authorities of Hampshire County, West Vir-
ginia.
