SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 188.
AN ACT to refund to certain collectors of State taxes, herein
mentioned, moneys erroneously paid by them into the State
Treasury.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon the Treas-
urer of the State in favor of the following collectors of State
taxes for moneys erroneously paid by them into the State
Treasury, the same having received the recommendation of
the Treasury officials, viz.: Hazel W. Cashell, Collector Fifth
District Montgomery County, for the year 1900, the sum of
seven dollars and fifty-six cents ($7.56), and for the year 1901,
the sum of one dollar and fifty-five cents ($1.55); George W.
Crum, Collector Frederick County, for the year 1907, the sum
of four hundred and ninety-seven dollars and eleven cents
($497.11), and for the year 1908, the sum of six hundred and
eleven dollars and ninety-eight cents ($611.98) ; John C.
Horsey, Collector Third District Somerset County, for the year
1907, the sum of three dollars and sixty-nine cents ($3.69).
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 149.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay for the por-
trait of James Ryder Randall, now hung in the Old Senate
Chamber of Maryland.
Whereas, Joint Resolution No. 15 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of nineteen hundred and eight provided
for the procuring of a suitable portrait of James Ryder Randall
to be hung in the Old Senate Chamber of Maryland; and
Whereas, The Commission authorized by said Joint Resolu-
tion No. 15 having performed its offices in this matter; there-
fore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to draw his warrant on the Treasurer
of Maryland in favor of Katharine Walton, the artist selected
