1300 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 558.

AN ACT to enable the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Engine and
Hose Company No. 1, a body corporate, of the State of
Maryland, to issue bonds and secure the payment thereof
and to liquidate the outstanding indebtedness of said Hamp-
stead Volunteer Fire Engine and Hose Company No 1, of
Carroll county, State of Maryland, a body corporate.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,. That the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Engine and Hose
Company No. 1, of Carroll county, in the State of Maryland, a
body corporate be and is hereby authorized to issue two hun-
dred and twenty (220) bonds, each of the value of ten dollars,
to be numbered consecutively, from 1 to 220, inclusive, at a
rate of interest not exceeding five per cent, per annum, payable
at such time or times as the said the Hampstead Volunteer
Fire Engine and Hose Company No. 1 may direct, but not ex-
ceeding thirty years from date. And to secure payment of
said bonds, and the interest thereon, by a deed of trust or
mortgage to the Westminster Deposit and Trust Company, a
body corporate, of the State of Maryland, on all its property,
real, personal and mixed.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the said the Hampstead
Volunteer Fire Engine and Hose Company No.. 1, with said
bonds or the proceeds thereof pay off and liquidate the now
outstanding indebtedness of the said the Hampstead Volunteer
Fire Engine and Hose Company No. 1.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the said bonds shall
be exempt from all county and municipal taxes of Carroll coun-
ty.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 440.

AN ACT to change the corporate name of "The Maryland Col-
legiate Institute of Union Bridge, Carroll County," and to
enlarge its corporate powers.

Whereas, "The Maryland Collegiate Institute of Union Bridge,
Carroll County," was incorporated under the General In-
corporation Laws of the State of Maryland on April 10th,
1900, by certificate of record among the Chattel and Bond
Records of Carroll County, in the State of Maryland, in the
office of the Clerk of Court, in Liber J. H. B., No. 19, folio
124, etc., and whereas under the said certificate of incorpo-
