the pledge or security of any stock, bonds, notes or other
choses in action, claims or any instrument of writing, or any
other lawful securities whatever.
SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the president, Vice-Presi-
dent and directors of the corporation hereby created shall
have power to adopt and enact such rules, regulations and
by-laws for the government and management of the affairs of
said corporation as they may deem advantageous to the inter-
ests thereof, provided the same shall be not contrary to the
laws of the land. Provided, however, that said Company shall
be subject to the provisions of Article 11 of the Public Gen-
eral Laws of this State, title "Banks" and any amendments
thereof, and the liability of the stockholders thereof shall at
all times be determined by the laws of the State in force at
the time the said liabilities may attach; and further pro-
vided that said Company shall not be subject to Article 3 Sec-
tion 25 of said Article 11.
SEC. 18. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 262.
AN ACT to declare the sanction and consent of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the sale and grant from the trus-
tees of Christ's Roman Catholic Church near Westminster, a
body corporate of the State of Maryland, to the Redemp-
torists, a body corporate of the State of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sanction and consent of the General Assembly
of Maryland be and is hereby granted and given to the sale
and grant from the trustees of Christ's Roman Catholic
Church near Westminster, a body corporate of the State of
Maryland, to the Redemptorists, a body corporate of the said
State, of certain property situate in Carroll County, Maryland,
and described in the deed of conveyance from the trustees of
Christ's Roman Catholic Church near Westminster, a body
corporate of said State, to the Redemptorists, a body corpor-
ate of said State, dated on the twentieth day of February in
the year one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine and re-
corded among the Land Records of Carroll county in the State
aforesaid in Liber J. S., No. 9, folio 528, etc.
SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.
