shall be at St. Helena Island, in the Severn river, in Anne
Arundel county, State of Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said corporation, by its cor-
porate name, may sue and be sued, answer and defend, in any
court of law or equity, and may ordain and establish by-laws,
rules and regulations as may appear necessary or proper for
conducting its concerns, and the same may change, alter and
amend as shall appear proper, and may have, use and at pleas
ure change a common seal; and generally may do any act or
thing necessary or proper to carry into effect the provisions of
this. Act and promote the designs of the corporation.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall have
the power to purchase, lease and otherwise acquire and hold
real and personal property in Anne Arundel county, such prop-
erty to be used and applied by it for the use of said corporation
consistent with the provisions of this Act, and to sell and dis-
pose of the same and perform all acts consistent with this Act.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 228.
AS ACT to add a supplement to the certificate of incorpora-
tion, incorporating the South Baltimore Harbor and Im-
provement Company of Anne Arundel county, which certifi-
cate was filed among the Records of Incorporation of Anne
Arundel county, in Liber S. H. No. 1, folio 235 and C., on the
13th day of June, 1882, giving the said corporation the right
to acquire its capital stock or any part thereof by purchase,
exchange or otherwise.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the South Baltimore Harbor and Improvement Com-
pany of Anne Arundel County, be and it is hereby authorized
to become the owner of any shares of its capital stock by pur-
chase, exchange, gift, bequest or otherwise, and it is further
authorized to receive in payment or in part payment for lands
or other property such shares of the capital stock of the said
corporation. It is further provided, that any shares of stock
so acquired shall be considered as cancelled and shall be fur-
ther considered pro tanto a reduction of its capital stock.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
