WICOMICO COUNTY. 1189

to Repeal Sections 130 to 158, Inclusive, of Article 23 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title 'Wicomico,' subtitle 'Salis-
bury,' " and all amendments and additions thereto, except such
as are hereinafter excepted, etc., and to re-enact the same with
amendments in sections and subsections, and to re-enact the
same with amendments and additions thereto, be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments thereto so
as to read as follows:

158K. And be it enacted, That the Mayor and Council may
contract with any corporation, firm or person for the lighting
of the city or part thereof, either with electricity, gas or by
such means as they may deem proper; and for water for use at
fires, or other city purposes; or may supply such light or water
themselves; provided no contract so entered into shall be for a
longer period than three years. And the said Mayor and Coun-
cil may provide by ordinance for the collection and removal of
filth, garbage or any matter or thing that may be or may be-
come dangerous or injurious to the health or comfort of the
inhabitants of Salisbury, and may by ordinance contract for
the collection and removal of same, or may have same removed
or any nuisance abated by themselves; also to provide what
part of the expense, if any, shall be borne by individual prop-
erty owners or tenants, or be paid for in whole or part by the
city, and shall have power to enforce such ordinance or ordi-
nances by making a violation thereof a misdemeanor and pun-
ishable by fine and imprisonment.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 12.

AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Wicomico
County to issue bonds for the purpose of paying off certain
indebtedness incurred by advancing money to the Board of
County School. Commissioners of Wicomico County, expended
by said Board of County School Commissioners of Wicomico
County, and money borrowed and expended by said Board of
County School Commissioners of Wicomico County in build-
ing and equipping buildings for high schools and school
houses in various parts of Wicomico County, and for the
purpose of completing said buildings and building and equip-
ping other necessary new school houses now used and to be
used for the public schools of the said county, and to levy and
collect taxes for the payment of the interest on and the
principal of the said bonds.
