Whereas, the rapid increase in population in the County of
Wicomico and the very large increase in the number of pupils
attending the public schools of Wicomico County, it has been
necessary for the Board of County School Commissioners of
Wicomico County to purchase two lots of ground at great ex-
pense in the city of Salisbury and erect and equip public school
buildings thereon, and new buildings at Pittsville, Hebron and
other places in Wicomico County, and the public necessity for
more school accommodation is absolutely necessary; and
Whereas, Great expense has been incurred in the purchase
of school lots and erecting of buildings and equipping the same
for use of the public schools of Wicomico County, and other
school buildings are necessary; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That for the purpose of paying off the indebtedness in-
curred by the County Commissioners of Wicomico County and
the Board of County School Commissioners of said county in
the purchase of lots in the city of Salisbury, in Wicomico
County, the building and equipping of school houses thereon
for the use of the public schools thereof, and for public school
houses at Pittsville, Hebron and other places, and for the pur-
pose of defraying the expense of building and equipping other
school houses for the use of the public schools of Wicomico
County, the County Commissioners of Wicomico County be and
they are hereby authorized and directed to issue bonds here-
after directed, to be signed by the president of the Board oi
Commissioners attached.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the amount of the said bonds
shall not in the aggregate exceed thirty thousand dollars
($30,000), to be issued in denominations of five hundred dollars
each, on the faith and credit of Wicomico County, and bearing
interest at a rate not exceeding five per cent, per annum, and
payable semi-annually; the said bonds to be made payable in
equal series of one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine
and ten years, and to commence the redemption of the same on
the first day of January, 1916; said bonds shall be numbered
and redeemed as numbered, commencing with number one, re-
deeming six bonds each year, commencing with the year 1916 as
aforesaid, and the Board of County Commissioners shall an-
nually levy a tax the year preceding at the regular levy to meet
and pay the interest on said bonds when issued and to meet
and pay the bonds as they shall become due and be collected
as other taxes are collected. The said bonds to be exempt from
taxation in Wicomico County and the municipalities thereof.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all bonds shall be dated the
first day of July, 1910, and bear interest not exceeding five
