1040 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

bridge system of Prince George's county; and to repeal Sec-
tions 278 to 290, both inclusive, of Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, entitled "Prince George's County;" to
repeal all other laws so far as the said laws, sections or
parts of sections thereof may be inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this Act, and to enact in lieu thereof certain sec-
tions, co be known as Sections 278 to 288, both inclusive, of
said Article 17, title "Prince George's County."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Chapter 530 of the Acts of 1908, Chapter 249 of the
Acts of 1906, Chapter 591 of the Acts of 1904, Chapter 567 of
the Acts of 1902, Chapter 346 of the Acts of 1900, Sections 1,
2, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 83 to 99, both inclusive, so
far as the same affect the public road and .bridge system of
Prince George's county, of Article 25 of the Code of Public
General Laws, entitled "Countv Commissoiners," and Sections
278 to 290, both inclusive, of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Prince George's County," be and the same
are hereby repealed, and in lieu thereof Sections 278, 279, 280,
281, 282, 283, 284, 285, 286, 287, 288 of said Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Prince George's County,"
are hereby enacted so as to read as follows:

SEC. 278. There shall be a system of free public roads and
bridges in Prince George's county, and all matters affecting
the roads and bridges in said county shall be under the con-
trol of a "Board of Road Directors," as created by this Act,
except in incorporated towns.

SEC. 279. The Board of Road Directors hereby created
shall be composed of four (4) persons, who are made a body
corporate under the name and title of "The Board of Road Di-
rectors of Prince George's County," with power to sue and to
be sued, to acquire and convey land, and to do such other cor-
porate acts as may be necessary in carrying out the provisions
of this Act. Their powers, duties and obligations with respect
to the public roads and bridges in said county shall be co-ex-
tensive with the powers, duties and obligations heretofore rest-
ing upon the County Commissioners of said county or the
Board of Highway Commissioners of said county, with respect
to the public roads and bridges of said county, except so far
as the same may be modified or changed by the provisions of
this Act.

SEC. 280. The members of said board shall serve until the
first day of March, 1912, or until their successors are quali-
fied, and upon the expiration of the terms of the members first
appointed the Governor shall appoint their successors to serve
for a term of two vears. And thereafter the members of said
