SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1918.

CHAPTER 438.
AN ACT to provide that $2,000 of the sum of $10,000 appro-
priated from the general treasury of the State by the Acts
of 1916, Chapter 251, for the purpose of building a hospital
in Charles County to be known as the Southern Maryland
Emergency Hospital, upon the conditions therein set forth,
shall, instead of being applied tp the building of said hos-
pital, be applied to the establishment of a central colored
industrial school in Charles County, in accordance with the
provisions of this Act; and providing also for the payment
of the remainder of the cost and expense of establishing said
central colored industrial school, over and above the $2,000
to be paid by the State as aforesaid, which remainder shall
not exceed the sum of $1,000, by levy upon the taxable prop-
erty of Charles County.
WHEREAS, Chapter 251 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of Maryland of 1916 appropriated, from the general treasury
of the State, the sum of $10,000 for the purpose of building a
hospital in Charles County to be known as the Southern Mary-
land Emergency Hospital, said appropriation to be available
at such time as the sum of $5,000 had been realized either by
private donation or by levy of the County Commissioners of
Charles County, or by both, said sum of $5,000 to be also ap-
plied to the building of said hospital; and,
WHEREAS, it is desired that $2,000 of the said sum of $10,-
000 so appropriated from the general treasury of the State,
and now standing on the books of the State to the credit of the
said proposed Hospital, instead of being applied to the build-
ing of the said Hospital, shall be applied to the establishment
of a central colored industrial school in Charles County, as
authorized by this Act. Therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That two thousand dollars of the sum of ten thousand
dollars, appropriated by the Acts of 1916, Chapter 251 afore-
said for the purpose of building a hospital in Charles County
to be known as the Southern Maryland Emergency Hospital,
