CHAPTER 383.

AN. ACT authorizing the State Roads Commission to construct
a highway in Carroll County, Maryland, from the State
road west of Taneytown to the Pennsylvania line over and
upon the public road leading from said State road to the
Pennsylvania line through the village of Harney connecting
at said State line with the State road now built by the State
of Pennsylvania, from that point to Gettysburg, Pennsyl-
vania.

WHEREAS, By building this link of four miles, the shortest
and most direct route between Baltimore, Maryland, and Get-
tysburg, Pa., will be completed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Roads Commission be and are hereby au-
thorized and empowered to construct a hard road about four
miles long in Carroll County, Maryland, from the State road.
west of Taneytown to the Pennsylvania State line through the
village of Harney over and upon a public road leading from
said Taneytown to Gettysburg, Pa., said road to be constructed'
of the same materials and according to plans used by the Com-
mission in its road building.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the State Roads Commis-
sion of Maryland have full authority and right to widen,
straighten, grade and alter this road and condemn or take any
property necessary therefor, in the same manner and under the
same law or laws as they are now authorized to use in widening
altering, grading or condemning for State roads.

Approved April 10th, 1918.

CHAPTER 384.

AN ACT to grant unto Annie E. Lemen, of Williamsport,.
Washington county, Maryland, the exclusive right, privi-
lege, interest and use in and to a certain part of the bed of
the Conococheague Creek, a navigable stream leading into-
the Potomac River at Williamsport, Maryland, and to the
ways, water courses, rights and privileges thereunto apper-
taining.
