eral agricultural production of the State of Maryland, there-
fore :

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Roads Commission of Maryland, be and is
hereby empowered and authorized as soon as practicable after
the passage of this Act, to cause to be surveyed and located,
and to build, construct and thereafter maintain as a part of
the State Roads System, ,an improved Gravel Highway from
Lothair Station, in Charles County, Maryland, to Helen Post-
office, in St. Mary's County, Maryland; said Highway to be
located via Alien's Fresh, Newport, Wicomico, Budd's Creek
and Chaptico.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect on the first day of June, 1918.

Approved April 10th, 1918.

CHAPTER 266.
AN ACT for the protection of foxes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That from and after the approval of this Act it shall
be unlawful to sell, or expose for sale, any fox or any fox hide
in Worcester, Somerset Counties, and it shall be unlawful
to ship by freight or express, or otherwise, or to take any fox,
or any fox hide, from any place within said State to any place
outside of said State. Any person or persons violating the
provisions of Section 1 of this Act shall be deemed guilty of
a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof in the Circuit
Court of said counties shall be fined in a sum not exceeding
Fifty Dollars, or imprisoned for a term not exceeding ten days,
in the discretion of the Court. One-half of all fines collected
under the provisions of this Act shall go to the informer.

SEC. 2. That from and after the approval of this Act it
shall be unlawful for any person to dig out or in any manner
to take from any den a female fox, or her young whelps, or kill
or in any manner cause the death of such female fox, or her
young whelps, during the period of time in which she is suck-
ling them. Any person or persons violating the provisions of
this Section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon con-
viction thereof in the Circuit Court of said counties shall be
