receive a sum of money not to exceed forty dollars, for convey-
ing to the State Penitentiary or to any other place of punish-
ment situated beyond the limits of said county, every person
sentenced thereto by the Circuit Court for Calvert County, or
by any Justice of the Peace for said County.

CHAPTER 37.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 26A
of Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Caro-
line County, " sub-title "Federalsburg, " as the same was en-
acted by Chapter 30 of the Acts of 1917.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 26A of Article 6 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Caroline County, " sub-title "Federalsburg, "
as the same was enacted by Chapter 30 of the Acts of 1917, be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as
follows:

Section 26A. And be it further enacted, That the said Com-
missioners of Federalsburg may, whenever they deem it neces-
sary, borrow money on the credit of said town, by note or notes,
in any amount they deem necessary, provided said indebtedness
thus created, shall not exceed at any time the sum of ten thou-
sand ($10, 000. 00) dollars. And the said Commissioners of
Federalsburg be and are hereby empowered and directed to
levy a tax on the assessable property of said town in addition
to what they are now authorized to levy to pay said notes and
interest when they become due and payable.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act is an emergency
law and necessary for the immediate preservation of the public
health and safety, and having been passed by a yea and nay vote,
supported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each of
the two houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
