as they may deem best for the interest of the public school
system and the proper compensation of the teachers thereof.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That said sum to be so
borrowed shall be repaid by the County Board of Education of
Montgomery County in two equal installments, with interest
that may accrue upon the same, the first payment to be made
on or before October 1, 1918, and the final payment on or
before one year thereafter, and are further directed to include
in the annual County school budget for the year 1918 and for
the year 1919 provision for the repayment of said amount so
borrowed as in this Act provided.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Board of
County Commissioners of Montgomery County be and 'it is
hereby authorized and directed to include in the annual levy
for school purposes for the year 1918 and for the year 1919,
a tax sufficient to repay said amount so borrowed as the same is
directed to be included in the County school budget of the
County Board of Education of Montgomery County.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public safety, and shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 36.
AN ACT to repeal Section 125 of Article 5 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Calvert County, " sub-
title "Sheriff, " as enacted by Chapter 378 of the Acts of
1878 of the Laws of Maryland, and to re-enact the same
with amendments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 125 of Article 5 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Calvert County, " sub-title "Sheriff, " as en-
acted by Chapter 378 of the Acts of 1878 of the Laws of Mary-
land, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with
amendments so as to read as follows:
Section 125. The Sheriff of Calvert County shall receive a
sum of money not to exceed seventy-five cents a day for keeping
and boarding each prisoner in the county jail and shall also
