County", sub-title "Sheriff", be and the same is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted with an amendment to read as follows:
SEC. 239. The Sheriff of Somerset County shall receive for
the keeping of prisoners, committed to his custody, and for their
victuals, such sum as to the County Commissioners of said
county shall seem proper, but in no case shall the sum allowed
exceed the sum of sixty cents per head per day.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the first day of June, 1918.

CHAPTER 160.
AN ACT to repeal Section 170 of Article 9 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Charles County, "
sub-title "Sheriff, " and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 170 of Article 9 of the Code of Public Lo-
cal Laws of Maryland, title "Charles County, " sub-title "Sher-
iff, " be and -the same is hereby repealed, and said Section 170
of Article 9 of said Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
is re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:
Section 170. The said Sheriff of Charles County shall re-
ceive for the keeping of prisoners committed to his custody, and
for their victuals and support, the sum of fifty cents per head,
per day, and the County Commissioners shall in no case allow
a greater compensation.

CHAPTER 161.
AN ACT to add additional Sections to Article 20 of the Code
of Public Local Laws for Somerset County, title "County
Commissioners" sub-title "Drainage" to follow section 53 of
said Article, enacting and establishing a uniform drainage
law for Somerset County.
