of Ten Thousand Dollars, for the faithful performance of
his duties as town clerk, which bond shall be paid
for by the Council, and further conditioned that he will
well and truly account and be liable for any and all
money coming into his possession as town clerk, or for
which he shall be secured by a fidelity or surety company
qualified to act as security or guarantor under the laws of
Maryland; and the same shall be approved by the Council or a
majority of them, and when signed and approved shall be de-
livered by them to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for record;
and upon his failure to give bond within thirty days after his
confirmation, the Mayor shall, with the approval of said Coun-
cil, appoint another person to act as town clerk as aforesaid;
and in case of vacancy in said office from any cause, the Mayor
shall fill the same for the balance of the term; and any per-
son so appointed shall take the oath and give the bond herein
required, and perform all the duties of the said office. The said
town clerk is hereby empowered to administer an oath or af-
firmation to any person presenting a claim or account against
the Mayor and Council, but shall not be allowed any fee for
same.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect on
and after June 1, 1918.

CHAPTER 6-3.

AN ACT to add one new section to Article 15 of the Code of
Public Local Laws, title "Kent County, " sub-title "Ches-
tertown, " the said new section to follow immediately after
Section 65A, and to be designated as Section 65B, so as
to read as follows, and to authorize the legal and qualified
voters of Chestertown to vote upon the same.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That one new section be added to Article 15 of the Code
of Public Local Laws, title "Kent County, " sub-title "Ches-
tertown, " to follow immediately after Section 65A and be
designated Section 65B, and to read as follows:

65B. That the Commissioners of Chestertown may levy
on the assessable property of Chestertown such sum of money
as they may deem necessary, not exceeding twenty cents on
