Water Company shall approve the sale of said plant, the sale
and purchase of said plant shall thereupon become binding upon
both parties upon the terms and subject to the provisions of
this Act, and the Mayor and Council of Hagerstown shall,
upon due notice of the result of said election, and of the action
of said stockholders, proceed under this Act and forthwith
carry out its provisions so far as the same may -be necessary
to consummate the purchase of said Water Plant.

SEC. 16. And be it further enacted, That all Acts or parts
of Acts inconsistent with this Act be and the same are hereby
repealed.

SEC. 17. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage, it being hereby de-
clared to be an emergency law and necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public health and safety.

CHAPTER 59.

AN ACT respecting the appointment and promotion of hon-
orably discharged soldiers, sailors and marines from the
Army and Navy of the United States in the public service
of the State of Maryland.

(Vetoed. )

CHAPTER 60.

AN ACT to repeal Section 8 of Article 18 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland, title "Queen Anne's County, "
sub-title "Almshouse, " and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 8, Article 18 of the Code of Public Local
Laws, title "Queen Anne's County, " sub-title "Almshouse, " be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amend-
ments to read as follows:

Section 8. The said trustees shall meet between the first
and tenth day of November, yearly, at the Almshouse in said
County, and appoint a fit person to be overseer of the Alms-
