992 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

field, under Act of 1908, of the said General Assembly, and all
sums so received for such licenses issued to residents of Deal's
Island, Tangier and Dames Quarter Election Districts, in said
county, shall be applied towards repairing the high school, or
towards building a new high school, at or near Deal's Island, in
said county, and all sums received from residents of other dis-
tricts in said county shall be applied to the support of the pub-
lic schools in the respective districts in which said last-named
residents respectively reside, or as may be hereinafter directed
by law, and the remaining one-tenth to be paid over by the
clerk to the Comptroller of the State Treasury to be credited to
the oyster fund.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted; That every applicant for license as
aforesaid shall be required to make oath or affirmation before
the clerk of the Circuit Court for Somerset county or some jus-
tice of the peace in and for said county, on whose certificate of
the taking of such oath and affirmation the clerk shall issue
said license that the facts set forth therein are strictly true, and
that he has been a bona fide resident of Somerset county for
twelve months next preceding his application for said license.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That if any person shall take or
catch crabs from the waters of Somerset county for sale without
first having obtained a license, as required by the preceding sec-
tions of this Act, that he shall, upon conviction thereof before a
justice of the peace of the aforesaid county, be fined not less
than $25.00, nor more than $100.00, and stand committed to the
county jail until all costs and fines are paid, all such fines,
when collected, shall be paid over to the School Commissioners
of Somerset county. All persons engaged in taking or catching
crabs under the provisions of this Act shall exhibit their au-
thority or license for so doing when required by any officer of

the oyster police force or other officer of the State.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 506.

AN ACT to add two additional sections to article 20 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Somerset
County," sub-title "Crisfield," to follow section 66, and to be
numbered and designated as sections 66s and 66c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the following sections be added to article 20 of the
