under sections 85 and 89 thereof, as amended, to be known as
sections 85A, 85B, 85c and 85D as follows, and that section 96 be
and the same is hereby repealed.
SEC. 85. The President and Commissioners of Chesapeake
City shall consist of five persons, a president and four commis-
sioners, who shall be citizens of the United States and at least
twenty-five years of age, and who shall be bona fide residents
of said town of Chesapeake City for at least two years next
preceding the date of their election, and who shall each, in his
own right, own real or personal property situate in the limits
of said town, assessed at not less than five hundred dollars;
said board shall be nominated at a public meeting two
weeks prior to the election in said town, and no man who
is not nominated at such meeting shall be eligible for election
as President or Town Commissioner. All male inhabitants of
said town who are citizens of the United States, who shall re-
side in said town for six months and in the State of Maryland
for twelve months next preceding the election at which they
shall offer to vote, shall be entitled to vote for said president
and commissioners; provided, that said voter, before he shall be
entitled to vote at said election, shall pay a poll tax of one dol-
lar to the Town Treasurer of said town, on or before the fif-
teenth day of April in each and every .year hereafter, and as
evidence of his having paid the same, said voter shall be re-
quired to produce his receipt therefor to the judge of election
at which he desires to vote before he shall be entitled to cast his
ballot thereat.
SEC. 85A. On the first monday in May in the year 1908, and
on the same date annually thereafter, the said voters shall elect
a president of said board, who shall serve for one year, or until
his successor is duly elected and qualified, and on the first Mon-
day in May in the year 1908 aforesaid, said voters shall elect
four commissioners for terms of office to be determined as fol-
lows: As soon as said commissioners shall have been elected
and qualified they shall, by lot, divide themselves in classes,
two of said commissioners to serve for two years from the date
of their election and two for one year from date thereof, or
until their successors are duly elected and qualified, and on the
first Monday in May, 1908, and on that date annually there-
after, said voters shall elect two commissioners to serve for two
years from the date of their election, or until their successors
are elected and qualified as aforesaid.
SEC. 85B. The Town Commissioners and all other officers of
said town, before they shall enter upon the duties of their re-
spective offices, shall severally take the following oath: "I do
