SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the said Road Commission-
ers shall also have charge of all bridges in said county, and
whenever any bridges are to be rebuilt or repaired at a cost ex-
ceeding fifty dollars, it shall be the duty of said Road Commis-
sioners to advertise the same and to let the same to the lowest
responsible bidder to be built upon the plans and specifications
to be furnished by the said Road Commissioners, and the Coun-
ty Commissioners shall levy, upon the written order of said
Road Commissioners at the next annual levy after the receipt
of the order, for the use of the contract or such sum or sums as
shall be required for the building or repairs of the bridges as
hereinabove stated, but no amount so levied shall be paid to the
said contractor, until the Road Commissioners have accepted
his work and so certified to the said County Commissioners..

SEC. 12. And be it enacted, That all amounts devoted to the
road fund of Calvert county by special legislation shall be paid
over to the president of the Board of said Road Commissioners,
to be used for repairs upon said roads as contemplated by this
Act, and that the president of said board shall give bond to the
State of Maryland, with security to be approved by the County
Commissioners of Calvert county in the sum of one thousand
dollars for the proper custody and use of all moneys paid over
to him as aforesaid.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted. That the said Road Commission-
ers be and they are hereby authorized, if in their judgment, it
will best promote the object of this Act, to purchase horses or
mules (not, however, exceeding two for each district), and
carts, plows and other implements for work upon said roads,
and it shall.be the duty of each supervisor to care and provide
for, under the directions of the Road Commissioners, the
horses, mules, carts, plows and all implements alloted to his
district, the necessary food being provided out of the road
funds. And the County Commissioners of Calvert county are
hereby authorized and directed to levy, upon the written order
of the said Road Commissioners at the first levy after the re-
ceipt of said order, such sums as may be required of them for
the purpose of this section, and all horses, etc., purchased under
this section shall be the property of said county, and they may
be sold and converted into cash at any time the said Road
Commissioners shall deem it advisable.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That no public road in Calvert
county shall be opened or altered, except by and with the ap-
proval and consent of the Road Commissioners of said county,
who are hereby authorized and empowered to sit with the
