all other Acts or parts of Acts or provisions of the Code of
Public Local Laws and the Code of Public General Laws, in
so far as the said Acts or parts of Acts or provisions of said
Codes may be inconsistent with the provisions of this Act,
and to re-enact with amendments certain sections, to be
known as sections 191, 192, 193, 194, 195, 196, 197 and 198,
of article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Anne
Arundel County, " sub-title "Roads. "

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 191 to 203V, both inclusive, and sections
203w and 203x of article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title "Anne Arundel County, " sub-title "Roads, " and all other
Acts or parts of Acts or provisions of the Code of Public Local
Laws or the Code of Public General Laws, in so far as such
Acts, parts of Acts or provisions of said Codes may be incon-
sistent with the provisions of this Act, be and the same are
hereby repealed, and the following be enacted in lieu thereof
as sections of article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Anne Arundel County, " sub-title "Roads. "

191. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county are
authorized and empowered to control and regulate the public
roads and bridges of said county subject to the provisions of
this Act.

192. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel county
shall, at the time of making the annual levy in said county levy
upon the taxable property in the first, second and eighth elec-
tion districts, a road tax, not to exceed twenty-five cents on the
hundred dollars, and upon the taxable property in the third,
fourth and fifth election districts a road tax not to exceed
forty-five cents on the hundred dollars, which said tax shall be
used for the repair and maintenance of public roads and
bridges in the same district where levied and collected, and in
no other. For the building of new roads and opening the
same, and for the building of new bridges and for repairing
and reconstructing public roads and bridges in said county,
the County Commissioners may, in their discretion, levy or
appropriate such other sum or sums of money as they deem
requisite. All of the taxes authorized in this section shall be
levied and collected as are other county taxes, and shall be
disbursed by the County Commissioners upon public roads and
bridges in Anne Arundel county, and not otherwise.

193. The County Commissioners shall, within sixty days after
the passage of this Act, appoint some competent person as
county road Engineer of Anne Arundel county, who shall hold
office from the date of his appointment until removed for cause
