354 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

178p. The police justice of the said first precinct of the said
second district of said county, for his services in criminal
cases, shall receive from the County Commissioners the sum
of thirty-five dollars per month and the additional sum of five
dollars for office rent, payable in cash or by levy equivalent to
cash, on the day of his making his report, as hereinbefore pro-
vided, and he shall not receive, directly or indirectly, any other
fees or compensation in criminal cases or cases of violation of
any of the laws of this State, and all fees of constables for ser-
vice of process in criminal cases in the first precinct of the
second district shall be paid by the County Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That there shall be only two jus-
tices of the peace appointed for the second election district,
one to reside in the first precinct and the other to reside in the
second precinct of said district, and immediately after the pas-
sage of this Act it shall be the duty of the Governor to desig-
nate one of the justices of the peace of the second district of
Anne Arundel county, now appointed, as police justice of the
first precinct of the second district, to hold his office as police
justice until his successor is duly appointed according to law.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all Acts or parts of Acts in-
consistent with the provisions of this Act be and the same are
hereby repealed, and that this Act shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

CHAPTER 256.

AN ACT. to repeal and re-enact with amendments section 4 of
chapter 119 of the Acts of 1906, entitled "An Act to regulate
the amount of licenses for selling liquors and intoxicating
drinks in the first and third precincts of the fifth election
district of Anne Arundel county, " and to add a new section
to said Act, to come in after section 2, and to be designated
as section 2A.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 4 of chapter 119 of the Acts of 1906, entitled
"An Act to regulate the amount of licenses for selling liquors
and intoxicating drinks in the first and third precincts of the
fifth election district of Anne Arundel county, " be and the
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments, and
that a new section, to be known as section 2A, be and the same
is hereby added to said Act, to come in after section 2, said
section 2A to read as follows:
