necessary, the sum of two thousand dollars, or so much thereof
as may be necessary, said appropriation in lieu of the annual
appropriation under chapter 259 of the Acts of 1896, which is
hereby repealed; to the Maryland State Firemen's Association,
the sum of one thousand dollars, the same being in addition to
the annual appropriation of one thousand dollars under chap-
ter 46 of the Acts of 1906; to the salary of the Custodian of
Public Records, nine hundred and twenty dollars for 1909.
PUBLIC DEBT.
For the payment of the interest on the public debt of the
State, two hundred and thirty thousand dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer of the State,
on warrant of the Comptroller, shall disburse the said sum or
sums of money herein appropriated for the objects and pur-
poses herein specified, to or upon the order of the person or per-
sons or body politic or corporate, entitled to receive the same.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the first day of October, nineteen hundred and
eight.
Approved April 8, 1908, with the exceptions of the several
items disapproved as appears in the disapprovals of the said
several items hereunto annexed:
The provisions and items of the above Act, to wit: Chapter
253, entitled "An Act making appropriations for the support of
the State Government for the fiscal year ending on the 30th day
of September, 1909, " are hereby approved with the exception of
the following provisions and items contained in said Act which
are hereby severally disapproved, to wit: On page 12 of the
enrolled Act, under the caption ''Reformatory and Other In-
stitutions, " the item "together with the further sum of $4, 000
in liquidating the mortgage upon said institution, " the said in-
stitution being the Female House of Refuge, is hereby disap-
proved.
On page 13 of the enrolled Act, under the caption "Reforma-
tory and Other Institutions, " the item "and the further sum of
$37, 500 to complete the railroad to said institution, " the said
institution being the Springfield State Hospital for the Insane,
is hereby disapproved.
On page 17 of the enrolled Act under the caption "Miscellane-
ous, " the item "to pay for carpets for the Senate and House of
Delegates for the session of 1910, the old carpets to be used for
the gallery, " two thousand dollars, is hereby disapproved.
