JOINT RESOLUTION No. 7.
In respect to the memory of the late Dr. Isaac Ridgeway Trimble, Col-
onel and Chief Surgeon of the First Brigade, Maryland National
Guard.
Whereas the General Assembly of Maryland has heard with deep
regret of the death of Col. Isaac Ridgeway Trimble, Chief Surgeon of
the Maryland National Guard; and
Whereas his distinguished services as a surgeon and soldier in the
Maryland National Guard are a part of the history of this State and are
worthy of a page in its records; and
Whereas his services to the State of Maryland as assistant surgeon
of the Fifth Regiment of Infantry from 1888 to 1898, and again as
Colonel and Chief Surgeon of the First Brigade of the Maryland
National Guard from February 1, 1905, up and to the date of his
death, February 24, 1908, were of such exceptional character that it
greatly increased the efficiency of the National Guard and placed its
medical standing and equipment on a higher plane than it had ever been
before; therefor
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That in the
death of the late Col. Isaac Ridgeway Trimble the State of Maryland
recognizes that the country has lost a true soldier whose life was an
inspiration to the citizens of the State, and in his true character and
devotion to duty the Fifth Regiment of the National Guard has lost
an official whose services were of a benefit to the command and to the
Commonwealth, and that by his death the regiment has lost a loyal
and sincere friend; therefore
Be it further resolyed, That a copy of these resolutions be spread
on the Journal and a copy, under the Great Seal of the State of
Maryland, be transmitted to the widow of the late Col. Isaac Ridgeway
Trimble.
JOINT RESOLUTION No. 8,
A resolution in the interest of concurrent oyster legislation for the
Potomac river.
Whereas a joint committee having been appointed by the General,
Assembly of Maryland, for the session of 1906, to confer with a
similar committee appointed by the General Assembly of Virginia in
regard to the concurrent oyster legislation for the Potomac river.
And whereas a bill having been agreed upon by said joint com-
mittees and passed by the General Assembly of this State, but was
not passed by the General Assembly of Virginia because of the early
adjournment of said General Assembly.
Therefore be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Delegates con-
curring, that a joint committee consisting of five on the part of the
Senate and seven on the part of the House of Delegates, be appointed
to visit Richmond to confer with a similar committee appointed by the
General Assembly of Virginia, in the interest of said concurrent legisla-
tion, and that the sum of four hundred dollars ($400) or so much
thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated to defray the ex-
penses of said committee.
