1480 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

his wife and the charge for which he was arrested vacated;
therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That on the warrant of the Comptroller, the Treasurer
of the State be and he is hereby to pay to said Sharp Lewis
Merriman the sum of four hundred dollars, being the amount
paid by said Sharp Lewis Merriman to said sheriff of Washing-
ton county on or about the twenty-fifth day of May, 1905.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved April 8, 1908.

CHAPTER 716.

AN ACT to pay Robert Wallace Spear, of Dorchester coun-
ty, Maryland, the sum of two hundred dollars per annum out
of the fund provided by section 53A of chapter 584, Acts of
1904, providing for the pension of certain teachers of the
public or normal schools of the State of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the State Board of Education be and it is hereby
authorized and empowered to place upon the Teachers' Re-
tired list the name of Robert Wallace Spear, of Dorchester
county, Maryland, and to certify regularly to the Comptroller
of the Treasury of this State the name of the said Robert
Wallace Spear with the names of the other retired teachers of
this State, and also shall receive and be paid a pension of two
hundred dollars per annum, and be paid quarterly by the
Treasurer of this State upon the warrant of the Comptroler. as
other teachers on said retired list are paid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 731.

AN ACT to reimburse Severn W. Croswell for damages ami
loss sustained or paid by him as owner of the sloop Edna
G. Croswell, which sloop was loaned to and used by the
deputy commander of the State Fishery Force and used by

said force to aid in protecting the Manokin river, in Somerset
county, and whilst so used the said sloop broke loose in a
storm on January 26, 1905, and was damaged by floating ice
and lost anchor and other appliances.
