Whereas said claim cannot be paid by the said Adjutant
General of Maryland because the funds out of which said
claim should be paid has been exhausted; and
Whereas similar claims of other members of said regiment
has been paid by said Adjutant General.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller draw his warrant on the Treasurer
for the sum of ninety-four dollars and ten cents in favor of the
Adjutant General of Maryland, to be disbursed by the Adjutant
General of Maryland in payment of the claim of the said Wil-
liam S. Peed, a member of the Fifth Regiment United States
Volunteer Infantry, for the expenses of illness contracted by
him for medicines, etc., upon the receipt by said Adjutant
General of properly approved claim, certified to as correct by
the proper military authorities, the checks for the amount
allowed such claimant to be drawn to the order of such claim-
ant, and mailed direct to him by the Adjutant General of
Maryland.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That said claim, when
approved, shall not be liable to attachment or any other legal
process, either by law or in equity, nor to any deduction for
fees or commissions of any sort.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 656.
AN ACT to grant and declare the sanction and consent of the
General Assembly of Maryland to certain sales, deeds, grants
and conveyances made by certain parties to "The Trustees
of Gaithersburg Methodist Episcopal Church, South, of
Montgomery County, Maryland," a religious corporation, and
to the holding of said land in fee simple, with full power to
sell, dispose of, mortgage or lease the same.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sanction and consent of the General Assembly
of Maryland be and the same is hereby declared given and
granted to the following sales, deeds, grants and conveyances
made to the "Trustees of Gaithersburg Methodist Episcopal
Church, South, of Montgomery County, Maryland," that is to
say: To a deed made by Nathen J. Walker and others, trus-
tees, of date the twelfth day of May, in the year eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-four, and of record in Liber J. A.. No. 46.
