1252 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

he is hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon
the Treasury of this State in favor of Henry I. Phillips, of
Dorchester county, State of Maryland, for the sum of twenty-
three dollars and seventy-five cents (|23.75), being the amount
of a fine paid by the said Henry I. Phillips unto William R.
Shenton, a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland, in
and for Dorchester county, upon conviction before said justice
of the peace for a violation of the oyster law of Maryland, but
in which case, upon appeal to the Circuit Court for Dorchester
county, at the April term, 1907, thereof, the said Heury I.
Phillips was returned not guilty by said court; that the said
sum of twenty-three dollars and seventy-five cents ($23.75)
so as aforesaid paid by the said Henry I. Phillips unto the said
William R. Shenton, justice of the peace, was by the said
William R. Shenton paid unto Charles Laks, Esq., clerk of the
Circuit Court for Dorchester county, and by the said last
mentioned official paid unto the Comptroller of the Treasury
of Maryland, less his commission of five per cent.; that the
repayment of the sum of said twenty-three dollars and seventy-
five cents ($23.75) hath received the recommendation of the
Treasury officials.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 282.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the Comptroller of the Treas-
ury and the County Commissioners of Carroll county to re-
fund to Sarah E. Parrish a sum of money for taxes erro-
neously paid by her.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury is hereby author-
ized and directed to draw his warrant in favor of Sarah E.
Parrish for the sum of thirty-three dollars and twenty-two
cents, the amount of State taxes erroneously paid by her for
the years 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904 and
1905.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the County Commis-
sioners of Carroll county are hereby authorized and directed
to pay the said Sarah E. Parrish the sum of eighty dollars and
nineteen cents, being the amount of taxes for county purposes
erroneously paid by her for the years 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900,
1901, 1902, 1903, 1904 and 1905.
