1198 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

none other, and shall not in any manner be subject to attach-
ment or execution for debt, or affected by the insolvent laws
of this State; but the estate of the owner or owners in their
respective lots shall descend as real estate to heirs, may be
devised by will or may be disposed of by the owner by sale,
with the approval of the said corporation.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That a certificate under seal of
the corporation of the ownership of any lot sold or conveyed
as aforesaid, shall in all respects have the same effect as any
conveyance from such corporation of said lot would have it
executed, acknowledged and recorded as conveyances of real
estate by the laws of this State are required to be.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is
hereby allowed to set aside from time to time a fund, and
the same to invest for future maintenance of said cemetery
and the care and preservation of the same.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is
hereby authorized to take, receive and hold, by gifts, bequests
and otherwise, contributions towards the maintenance of said
cemetery and for the care and preservation of said cemetery
and the lots therein.

SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That whenever any fund, as pro-
vided in section 14 of this Act, shall be set aside and invested
by the said corporation, and that whenever said corporation
shall receive any contribution by gift, bequest or otherwise for
the maintenance of said cemetery and for the care and preser-
vation of the same, the principal of said fund so set aside and
the principal sum of said contribution shall not be used by
the said corporation for the maintenance, care, preservation
or extension of the said cemetery, but only the interest or pro-
ceeds arising from the investment of the same shall be so used.

SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the said corporation is
hereby authorized to make assignments of lots in said ceme-
tery, restricting interments in said lots as shall be provided in
said assignments.

SEC. 18. And be it enacled, That the said corporation be and
the same is empowered and authorized to acquire by con-
demnation, land adjoining its cemetery, for the purpose of
sepulture, and for none other, not exceeding five acres within
any five years; provided said corporation can not agree with
the owner or owners of the land, or if such owner or owners
or any of them be a feme covert without power to contract in
relation to said property, or under age, or non compos men-
tis, or under any legal disability, or be absent from said county
