LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Repeal.

title "Baltimore County," sub-title "Justices of the Peace and
Constables," relating to justices of the peace and constables in
the twelfth election district of Baltimore county, which is
inconsistent herewith, be and the same is hereby repealed.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 9, 1898.

CHAPTER 383.
AN ACT to require the County Commissioners of Carroll
County to pay to the Mayor and Council of Mount Airy
one-half of the amount of road tax levied or taxed upon the
property within the limits of the town of Mount Airy, in
Carroll County.
WHEREAS, By virtue of authority conferred by the Act of
the General Assembly of Maryland, chapter 72 of the Acts of

Preamble.

the January session of eighteen hundred and ninety-six, the
Mayor and Council of Mount Airy did issue bonds and borrow
the sum of four thousand dollars, which was expended in grad-
iug and macadamizing a portion of the streets of the said town
of Mount Airy, which were therefore a part of the public
roads of Carroll county, thereby relieving said county of the
expense of maintaining such public roads within the limits of
said town ; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That it shall be the duty of the County Commissioners
of Carroll county to pay annually to the Mayor and Council
of Mount Airy, one half the amount of taxes levied and col-
lected annually by said County Commissioners for road pur-
poses, upon the assessable property liable to taxation within
the limits of the town of Mount Airy, to be appropriated and
used by the said Mayor and Council of Mount Airy, for the
repair, maintenance and improvement of the streets and roads
within the limits of said town, and within the borders of
Carroll county so graded and macadamized as aforesaid.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
