SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That an additional section be enacted and added to
Article nine of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Charles
County," sub-title "County Commissioners," to follow section
56, and to be designated as section 56 A, to read as follows :

New section-

56 A. All county printing, including newspaper advertise-
ment, required to be printed or published by the County Com-
missioners of the said Charles county, officers of registration,
sheriff, supervisors of election, and all other county officers, to the
extent that all such printing and publishing may be required
to be paid for by the said county by law ; exclusive, however,
of the ballots required to be furnished by the supervisors of
election, may, in the discretion of the said County Commis-
sioners, be contracted for, with and printed and published by one
or more newspapers published in said county ; provided, that the
said County Commissioners shall not in any one year, levy or ex-
pend more than six hundred dollars, for all of the county
printing required to be done by the Connty Commissioners or
other county officers, as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 385.
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 33 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Elections," sub-title "Judges
and Clerks of Elections," to follow Section 9, and to be
designated as Section 9 A.

Effective.

WHEREAS, Owing to the mountainous country in Garrett
county, and the difficulty of travel from distant parts of said
county to the county seat is both expensive and inexpedient,
that the judges and clerks of election, as provided for by sec-
tion 9 of this sub-title, shall appear before the Board of
Supervisors for the purpose of examination ; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Preamble.

Maryland, That a new section be and the same is hereby
added to Article 33 of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Elections," sub-title "Judges and Clerks of Elections," to
follow section 9, and to read as follows :
