Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 7, 1898.

CHAPTER 376.
AN ACT to regulate the drawing of the jury in Baltimore
County so far as the same relates to the twelfth, fourteenth
and fifteenth election districts of said county, and to repeal
all that portion of Article 51, Section 8 of the Code of
Public General Laws of the State of Maryland, inconsistent
herewith.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the box in which are placed the names of persons
selected for the jury in Baltimore county, shall contain fifteen
compartments, and there shall be drawn therefrom in the
manner now provided by law, two names from compartments
number twelve (instead of six names as heretofore provided by
law) two names from compartment number fourteen, and two
names from compartment number fifteen.

Repeal.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all that portion of Article
51, section 8 of the Code of Public General Laws of the State
of Maryland, inconsistent herewith, be and the same is hereby
repealed.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved April 14, 1898.

CHAPTER 377.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money for the improvement
of the State Library, and to continue the card catalogue
system therein.
WHEREAS, During the incumbency of the present State

Librarian, the "card catalogue system" has been adopted, which
has done away with the old system of printed catalogues which
had constantly to be renewed from time to time at heavy
expense for printing and binding ; and,

WHEREAS, Under the card system all additions to the library
are, shown by the simple addition of a card for each book
added, being placed on the card cabinet, thus keeping a contin-
uous and complete catalogue of the books in said library ; and
