party or parties consenting thereto, directly or indirectly, shall
De liable to the said corporation for the amount so loaned, and
all expenses or losses which may result therefrom.
SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall

have power to act as the fiscal or transfer agent of any State,
municipality, body politic or corporate, and in such capacity to
receive and disburse money, and transfer, register and counter-
sign certificates of stock, bonds or other evidences of indebted-
ness, and to receive and manage any sinking fund of any cor-
poration on such terms as may be agreed upon.

Act as agent.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That the General Assembly of
Maryland reserves the right to repeal, alter or amend this Act
at its pleasure.

Right

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That this said corporation shall
be subject to the provisions of chapter 109 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of 1892, as amended by chapter 160 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of 1896, and to all general laws
applicable to companies or associations of a nature similar to
that named in this Act.

Subject to
certain
provisions.

SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 375.
AN ACT to authorize the Board of Police Commissioners of
Baltimore City to increase the pension of Pere W. Story, a
retired policeman of the Police Force of Baltimore City.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Board of Police Commissioners for the city of
Baltimore be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
pay to Pere W. Story, a retired policeman of the police force
of Baltimore city, out of the fund in hands of said Board of
Police Commissioners, known and accounted for as the special
fund, the sum of nine dollars per week for his life, in lieu of
the sum of six dollars per week now paid to the said Pere W.
Story by said Board of Police Commissioners, under and by
authority of an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland,
chapter four hundred and fifty-nine, Laws of Maryland,
eighteen hundred and eighty-six, entitled "An Act to define a
fund of money now in the hands or which under existing laws
may come into the hands of the Board of Police Commis-
sioners for the city of Baltimore, and to provide for its appli-
cation," approved April 7, eighteen hundred and eighty-six.
