LLOYD LOWNDES, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

Punishments," to be inserted after section 119 of said Article,
and to be designated as Section 119 B, under the sub-heading of
" Fraud by Directors or Officers of Insurance Companies," said
section to read as follows :
119 B. Any director or officer of any insurance company, or

association, or fraternal beneficiary association, who shall receive
any premium or assessment on behalf of said company, asso-
ciation, or fraternal beneficiary association, knowing at the time
of the receipt of said premium or assessment said company,
association, or fraternal beneficiary association to be insolvent,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding five hundred dol-
lars, or imprisonment in jail for a period not exceeding six
months, or both, in the discretion of the court.

Guilty of mis-
demeanor.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 321.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to Charlotte Hall
School, in St. Mary's County, Maryland, and to establish
twenty-six free'" scholarships therein.
WHEREAS, It appears that the appropriation made by chapter

support of Charlotte Hall School will expire on and after
the first day of June, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight ; and
