John George, Eli Brown, Frederick Kamp and William M.
Lohr, all of Garrett county and State of Maryland, being citi-
zens of the United States and citizens of the State of Mary-
land and their successors, be and they are hereby incorporated
under the corporate name of Farmers Union Association and
Fire Insurance Company of Garrett County.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this company is formed for
the purpose of insuring farm houses, barns, hay, farming im-
plements, grain, carriages, harness, cattle, and all other live
stock, and all household goods, and any other property, both
real and personal, as the board of directors may determine,
against loss by tire or lightning, within the limits of Garrett
county.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the rights, powers and privi-

leges now or hereafter conferred by law upon this corporation,
shall be vested, in and delegated to a board of ten directors, two
of them shall be elected annually, at such time as may be herein-
after determined by said corporation, and who shall serve for

fied, of which annual election twenty days' notice shall be
given by publication in some newspaper published in Garrett
county, and vacancies occurring in said board shall be filled by
the remaining directors for the uuexpired term or terms ; every
policy holder shall be a member of the company, and entitled
to one vote.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the board of directors shall
annually elect from their own number a president, a vice-presi-
dent, a secretary, who shall act as treasurer, and appoint such
other officers and agents and attorneys as they may deem nec-
essary for the transaction of business of this corporation, and
may discharge any or all of them when they may deem it
expedient. In case of the absence of the president the vice-
president may act as president pro tem, who shall perform the
various duties of the president, and six members of said board
of directors shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of
business.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
