LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 261.
AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners
of Charles County to levy a sum of money, for building
one school house for colored children in Election District
Number Two in said county, and one school house for white
and one school house for colored children in the Third Elec-
tion District of said county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County -Commissioners of Charles county, be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to levy a sum or

county ; one of said colored schools shall be built in election
district number two, on the public road near Grinder's mill,
and the second of said school house for colored children shall
be built in election district number three on the public road
leading from the cross roads to Liverpool Point, and the white
school house to be built on the public road from Nanjemoy to
Gray ton, in election district No. 3, and the said schools shall
be built at such places with a due regard to the above location
as the Board of School Commissioners may select.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That after the levy as provided
for in the aforegoing section shall have been made, it shall be
the duty of the Board of School Commissioners for said county
to select and secure the sites for said schools, whereupon they

shall advertise for sealed proposals for the building of said
school houses according to the plans and specifications furnished,
and upon the day named in said advertisement for awarding
such contracts, they shall publicly open all bids and shall award
the contract to the lowest responsible bidder, who shall be
required to give a good and sufficient bond for the faithful per-
formance of such contract or contracts.

Effective,

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate Farmers Union Association and Fire
Insurance Company of Garrett County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Meshack Mattingly, Edward Margroff, H. R.
