SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the money arising from the
sale of bonds shall be paid to the Mayor and City Council of
said town, and by them deposited in the Pocomoke City
National Bank, and shall only be drawn therefrom on cheque
signed by the Mayor and countersigned by the secretary and
treasurer ; and the said secretary and treasurer shall keep in a
book for that purpose, a full registry of said bonds sold, the
number of the bonds, the name of the purchaser or purchasers,
amounts realized on sale, and any transfer and assignment of
the same.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said Mayor and City
Council shall have power to advertise for proposals for the

erection of water works, with all its equipments for a proper
and sufficient supply of water ; also for providing a sewerage
system, and to purchase or erect an electric light plant; and the
said Mayor and Council may reject any and all bids, or award
the contract to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, at their
discretion, requiring any accepted bidder to gjve bond in such
penalty as said Mayor and City Council shall determine, condi-
tioned for the faithful performance of the contract entered
into.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That chapter 442, the Acts of

Assembly 1896, and all other Acts inconsistent with this Act
are hereby repeated.

Repeal.
|
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 250.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claim of
Sanford' and Brooks for making repairs to the State wharves
in Baltimore City under the direction of the Board of Public
Works.

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to draw his warrant on the treasurer of
this State in favor of Sanford and Brooks, of Baltimore city,
for the sum of five thousand and twenty-three dollars and thir-
teen cents, in full payment of the claim of Sanford and Brooks
for repairs made by them to the State wharves in Baltimore
city during the years 1896 and 1897 by the order and under
the direction of the Board of Public Works.
