be ineligible for re-election to said office for two years thereafter,
and shall be subject to removal from his said office for any wilful
neglect of duty or misbehavior in office at any time by the County
Commissioners of said county ; the said treasurer so elected
shall give bond as directed in section forty of this Article, and
said treasurer, before proceeding to exercise the duties of his
said office shall take and subscribe an oath, such as is taken in
cases of similar trusts, and shall not during the term of his
office as such treasurer hold any other office, either municipal,
county, State or Federal.
41. Said treasurer shall receive and pay on the order of the
County Commissioners, the proceeds of all county taxes levied

in said county and paid over to him, and shall keep a full and
true account of all taxes paid over to him, and all monies
received by him for the county, and of all matters relating to
the duties of the said office, with all vouchers therefor, and
shall, whenever said County Commissioners may require him
to do so, present to them for their inspection an exact account
of all his receipts and expenditures, and a true and full exhibit
of all moneys that have come into his hands, and when and
from whom and for what purpose received, and shall perform
such other duties as the County Commissioners may require
and pertaining to said office of treasurer ; and such treasurer
shall receive as full compensation for all services and duties
required of and performed by him the sum of twelve hundred
dollars per annum, and payable every three months, instalments
of three hundred dollars, upon the order of said Board of
County Commissioners of Allegany county, and at the end or
expiration of his term of office such treasurer shall immediately
transfer and deliver to his successor in office all books, accounts,
vouchers, papers of every kind relating to the duties of or con-
nected with his office, and pay over all moneys received for said
county that may then be in his custody, charge or control,
belonging to said county, to such successor, or as the County
Commissioners may direct.
39 D. And be it further enacted, That the election of

Thomas B. Lashley as treasurer for said Allegany county, for.
the years eighteen hundred and ninety-six and eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-seven be and the same is hereby ratified and
confirmed ; and the election of James E. Macbeth as treasurer
for said Allegany county for the years eighteen hundred and
ninety eight and eighteen hundred and ninety-nine be and the
same is hereby ratified and confirmed ; and that all acts done
by such treasurer or to be done by such treasurers in the discharge
