SEC. 12. And be it further enacted, That every public library
established under this law shall receive annually from the State
a copy of the laws, journals and all other books published by
the authority of the State, and in return therefor. shall transmit
a copy of their annual report to the State libra'ry.

SEC. 13. And be it further enacted, That all real estate
acquired for the use and benefit of any library and reading
room, as aforesaid, established with the accrements thereon, and
all property that shall be a part of any such library and read-
ing room, shall be exempt from all State, county and municipal
taxation.

SEC. 14. And he it enacted, That this Act take effect from
its passage.

CHAPTER 516.
AN ACT to repeal and amend Sections thirty-nine and
forty-one of Article one of the Code of Public Local Laws,
title "Allegany County," sub-title "County Treasurer," and
to add an additional section thereto, to follow immediately
after thirty-nine o, and to be designated as Section thirty-
nine D.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That sections thirty-nine and forty-one of Article one of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-
title "County Treasurer," be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted with amendments, (except as to all Acts already
done under said sections as to which the same are hereby saved
and continue in force,) and that an additional section be and
the same is hereby added to said Article, to follow immediately
after section thirty-nine o, and to be numbered section thirty-
nine D, so that said respective sections shall read as follows :

39. At the general election for county officers for Allegany
county to be held in said county in November, eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-nine, and every two years thereafter, a county
treasurer shall be elected by the qualified voters of said county,
who shall hold the office of Treasurer for a term of two years
from the time of his election and qualification, or until his suc-
cessor is elected and qualified, and the treasurer so elected shall
