court, it shall be lawful for the court, and it is hereby directed,
to pass an order in the premises substituting the purchaser
from the Commissioners in their place and stead.
236 E. The County Commissioners may require the treasurer

to give as surety on the bond required of him by this Article,
and to be approved by him, one of the corporation in the State
authorized by the laws of this State to become surety on
official bonds ; and the Governor of the State may require the
treasurer to give surety on the bond required of him by this
Article, to be approved by the Governor, one of the corpora-
tions in this State authorized as aforesaid to become surety on
official bonds ; and in all cases in which such requirement is
made, or in any case in which the treasurer may give such
surety without being required so to do, the County Commis-
sioners shall pay the premium or charge for such suretyships,
and shall reimburse to the treasurer any such charge or
premium as he may have heretofore paid for such suretyships.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That section 237 of said Article,
as the same was enacted by chapter 362 of the Acts of 1890,
be and the same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

defaced as to render many of them almost unfit for use and in
snch state of decay as to demand prompt attention looking to
their preservation, J. Frank Ford, Esq., then clerk of said
court, contracted in the year 1897 to have said plats restored
as far as practicable to their former condition, and also to have
them stoutly backed and edged, catalogued and so arranged and
covered as to guard against like conditions in the future and
afford facilities for handling and using them without loss or
serious injury ; and
WHEREAS, It is reported to this General Assembly that said
