5. Said officer of registration before entering upon the dis-
charge of hie duties, shall qualify before the clerk of the
Circuit Court for Frederick county, by taking the oath pre-
scribed by the Constitution of Maryland.

tisement in some newspaper published at Brunswick, if there
be one so published, if not, in some newspaper published in
Frederick county, and having a large circulation at Brunswick,
once a week for two successive weeks prior to the time fixed
for registration, and such other notice as he may deem neces-
sary, of his intention so to do, proceed at some convenient
place in said town to be designated in said advertisement, at
the hour of eight o'clock A. M. on the third Monday of July
in the year 1898, and every two years thereafter, at the same
time to open said books of registration, and the same keep open
for three successive days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
until the hour of eight p. M. of said days, for the purpose of
correcting, revising and supplementing said registration list in
the manner above mentioned. And such officer of registration
shall cause a copy of the lists of persons qualified and disquali-
fied in each ward separately to be published by handbills
posted in such public places about the town as he may elect,
within three days after the close of said registration. Any
person considering himself aggrieved by the action, of the
register in refusing to register his name as a qualified voter,
and any person aggrieved by the action of the register in

to the Mayor, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to hear such
appeal and to make such correction in the registration list, by
the hand of the clerk, as justice and right in their judgment
shall require. For his services the officer of registration shall
receive such compensation per day as the Council may from
time to time determine. Within three days after the close of
the registration books, as provided in the preceding section,
the officer of registration shall deliver the said books to the
clerk of the Council, having first entered the initials of his
name just below the last name registered by him in each regis-
tration book, under each alphabetical list of names therein,
and the clerk shall safely keep the same and permit no person
to have access thereto, save in his presence, until the morning
of the election, when the clerk shall deliver the same to the
judges of election, to be used as the lists to be voted from and
checked as the ballots are deposited. When the registration
books now in use shall become worn out, dilapidated or unfit
for further use, the Mayor and Council shall provide other
