LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Episcopal Church, in election district number four, in Carroll
County, Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall not be lawful for the clerk of the Circuit

Unlawful to
Issue license.

Court for Carroll county, Maryland, to issue a license or
licenses to any person or persons to sell spirituous or fermented
liquors or lager beer, at any place nearer than one mile in any
direction from Patapsco Methodist Church, situated in elec-
tion district number four, in Carroll county, Maryland, unless
for medical purposes, and then only upon the prescription of a
regular physician.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the day of its passage.
Approved April 9, 1898.

CHAPTER 483.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section one
hundred and seventy-nine of Article seventeen of the Public
Local Laws of Maryland, entitled "Prince George's County,"
sub-title "Jurors."

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by tJie General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section one hundred and seventy-nine of Article
seventeen of the Public Local Laws of Maryland, entitled
"Prince George's County," sub-title "Jurors," be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :
179. Of the seventy-three jurors so drawn and summoned,

petit Juries.

the twenty three names first occurring, in the order in which
they were drawn, shall constitute and be the grand jury for
the ensuing term of the court, and the remaining fifty names
next in order in the drawing shall constitute and be the petit
jury of the said ensuing term of the court ; and the judge or
judges of said court shall divide the petit jury into two panels,
one of which shall be known as panel number one and the
other as panel number two ; and the said court shall make such
order for the alternate attendance of said panels of jurymen
during the session of the court as the court may deem neces-
sary, but the persons named on said list or panel known as
panel number one of petit jurors, shall not be summoned or
required to attend or paid for attendance until the second
week of said term; and the persons drawn as jurors, and
named on the list or panel known as panel number two, shall
not be summoned or required to attend or paid for attendance
