WHEREAS, It has been made known to this General Assem-
bly of Maryland that for a number of years, from September

the first, eighteen hundred and eighty seven, to December the
eleventh, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-six, there
has been an omission on the part of the former clerk for Prince
George's county to make out and send extracts of deeds to the
Commissioners of the Land Office, as was provided for by sec-
tions fifty-four and fifty-five of Article seventeen of the Code
of Public General Laws ; and
WHEREAS, It is important that such extracts of deeds re-

corded in said office, as have been so omitted, should be made
out and sent to the Commissioner of the Land Office, as is
now provided by law,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince George's

county be and is hereby directed to make out and send to the:
Commissioner of the Land Office extracts of the deeds now
recorded in the office of the said clerk which have been omitted
by the former clerk, as hereinbefore set forth, in the manner
now provided for by law, beginning on the first day of Sep-
tember, eighteen hundred and eighty-seven, and proceeding
forward over the period of the omission hereinbefore made;
and that for such work he shall receive a compensation, to wit :
Ten cents for each folio of one hundred words necessarily used
therein ; provided, the said compensation to said clerk shall not
exceed in the aggregate five hundred dollars in any one year ;
nor shall the total cost of work exceed $1,500.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the cost and expense of

the work so directed to be done shall be paid by Prince
George's county, and the County Commissioners for said
county are hereby authorized and required to levy such sum
as may be necessary to pay for the same, upon the certificate
of the Commissioner of the Land Office showing the amount,
and that said work has been satisfactorily performed.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
