Preamble.
|
WHEREAS, Abram J. Williams, of Calvert county, was on
the 25th day of April, 1896, commissioned as Chief Judge of
the Orphans' Court of said county by the Governor of Mary-
land, to fill an alleged vacancy in said office, and for which
commission he paid the clerk of the Circuit Court for Calvert
county the sum of ten dollars ; and

WHEREAS, The clerk aforesaid duly forwarded the said sum
of ten dollars to the Comptroller of the State Treasury, less-
five per cent, commission ; and
WHEREAS, It was afterwards declared by the courts of the

State that no vacancy existed in the office for which the said
Williams had been commissioned, and that said commission
had been improvidently issued ; therefore,
SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer
of the State in favor of Abram J. Williams, of Calvert county,.
for the sum of ten dollars, as hereinbefore recited, out of any
moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.

Effective.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 478.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article 35 of the
Code of Public General Laws, title "Evidence," sub-title
"Proof of Foreign Debts and Other Instruments," to be
numbered and designated as Section 38 A.

SECTION 1. B e it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the following section be added to the Code of Pub-
lic General Laws, title "Evidence," sub-title "Foreign Records,"
to be numbered and designated as section 38 A.

Sufficient
evidence.
|
38 A. The copy of the record or register of any corporation,
which the laws of any foreign country where the same may be
incorporated, require to be recorded or registered, and which
has been recorded agreeably to such laws, and which is certified
under the hand of the keeper of such record or register and
the seal of the court or office in which said record or register
is kept, and which is also certified to be in due form and by the
proper officer, making reference to the Act under which cor-
porations are formed under the laws of such foreign country,.
